Inside Automation
To be able to grip (handle) work pieces inside a CNC Lathes or
Machining Centers, you need a power coming normally from hydraulic or compressed air - an expensive solution inside a machine.
We use the coolant pressure - it is already there, inside the machine - a cheap solution.

Inside Automation - Smart Solution
Low cost solution of handle parts!
To be able to grip (handle) work pieces inside a Machine Tool, Lathes or Machining Centers,
you need a power coming normally from hydraulic or compressed air.
This is costly to arrange inside a machine and therefore the most common equipment for
"robot function" is serving the machine from outside the door.
We use the coolant pressure - it is already there, inside the machine - a cheap solution.

Our product Grippex operates by using the coolant systems that is available on all CNC machines.
Grippex is used as Bar puller and Pick-Up Unit for pulling and load/unload parts.
Grippex is available with 2 or 3 fingers design, selves adjustable in the whole gripping range. This
makes it possible to pull or grip material/parts on different diameters with no diameter adjustment.
When fitted with robot jaws Grippex can especially be used for unload finished parts from twin/sub spindle.
This eliminates costly ejector solution and provides the added benefit of allowing the second spindle to
swallow longer parts.
Inside a Machining Center
The Grippex can be mounted on a milling chuck with internal coolant supply and be stored in the tool magazine.
Grippex can load/unload raw materials or parts into m-coded-controlled vices, chucks and R-tables from/to
work pieces storages.
Automatiization of Machining Centers is normally expensive, for example using pallet or robot systems. By using
Grippex as a robot fuction you can probably save time and money.

Grippex Coolant driven bar puller.
Patented.
Already in the end of the eighties MPC developed and introduced the first coolant driven bar puller.
Today, four generations later, the range is improved and 3 sizes of Grippex coolant driven bar pullers
are avaiable, both in three fingers and two fingers design. Equipped with robot jaws Grippex give you
a simple robot function inside the lathe.

Pullex Crocodile is the second-generation of the System Pullex. The number of frames have been
reduced to only 2 gripping ranges and cover a bar diameter range from ø0-60 mm. The new Pullex can
also be used both for left- and right hand tools and can very easy be connected to your own cut off tools.

The Bar Puller that makes your CNC-Lathe more effective, right away!
For various reasons, such as high costs or limited floor space in work shops,
a small percentage only of the CNC-Lathes are equipped with some kind of
magazine-type bar feeder. In small batch production, however, the machine spindle
itself, in addition with its inserted guiding tube and Grippex, provides you with a
simple and highly efficient Bar-Feeder.

A new Way to work
Conventional way of working!
Grippex is working inside!
Please, imagine that 40 workpieces of 20 mm length each may be automatically machined from a single one meter bar!
- Make Grippex do it for you! 40 workpieced in unmanned production!
Supposing that the machining cycle time is 1 minute. Then Grippex gives you 40 spare minutes for better use than
pulling the bar manually or handling small pieces of cut raw material.
-You'll find yourself with a lot of spare time for other operation such as quality checks and/or making preparations for the next batch work etc.

| |
Coolant ON for Grippex to clamp.
Chuck unclamp; turret moves back along Z-axis and stops exactly at programmed position.
Chuck clamp; coolant OFF. Grippex unclamp; turret retracts.
Grippex advantages
Instant setup - gripping is secured without any adjustment within the whole gripping range.
Compact and light - Adjacent turret tool positions need not be vacated.
Powerful - stands high pressure. No need for a pressure reduction valve.
Grippex doesn't need high pressure for pulling properly. It's working from 0.5 bar onward. Chuck unclamp.
Clamps very close to the chuck, allowing for short overhang of the bar.
Clamps hexagon bars without need for spindle orientation.
Can be used as well as a Pick-Up Unit with robot jaws.
Grippex clamps very close to the chuck.
Don't YOU want to do this in almost no time?"... by using a bar puller
that is directly fitted on the Part-off tool shank and pulls the bar into its new
cutting position simultaneously with the tool's retraction for ATC.
You can't possibly get the work done faster than by using this
revolutionary Bar Puller, which forms a single unit together with the
part-off tool shank:

it clamps the bar instantaneously after cut-off and spindle stop
it pulls the bar into its new position simultaneously with the tool's
retraction for automatic tool change.
PULLEX feeds the bar within 1.5-2 seconds, to be compared with the job of a
conventional shortbar Feeder, which would take 10-15 seconds to execute the same
operation. Then, assuming a machining cycle time of 50 seconds for your workpiece, you'll find that:

you are going to save one day each week using PULLEX
this is a most profitable accessory for your CNC-lathe.
1 day/week

Shank-application:
The fixing plate is fitted between the tool holder
and the upper side of the part off square tool.
The frame is fitted to the fixing plate.

Blade-application:
The fixing plate fits diffent sizes and brands of tool holders and is screwed
on the tool holder.
The frame is fitted to the fixing plate.

Adjustment of Pulling plates
The pulling plates are pushed within their grooves (in the direction of the arrows) into
the desired diameter within the Frame's range of 30 mm.
Adjust the pulling plates to a diameter of 0,1 mm to 0,2 mm less than the bar diameter.
The pulling plates are hardened and profile-ground for best performance.
After cut-off, the spindle is stopped and PULLEX advances a little (see "A") behind
the bar centre for gripping the bar.

Grippex as a Pick-Up Unit - a low cost Robot function
home page
Now you can simply increase you machine's capacity and turn it to an unmanned production cell,
as pick-up unit in a lathe and as a loader/unloader in a machining center. Grippex is driven by existing
coolant - it is already there - inside the machine.
Grippex pick-up unit can be used both for raw material as well as finished parts without any
adjustment of the jaws or gripping range.

Grippex Mini with robot fingers GPX-M/R40
On the standard gripping fingers can be fitted different types of jaws and inserts:

Robot inserts are available for the fingers F52 (Grippex Small), F60, F80 and F105 in steel or
brass material.

Robot jaws are available for the fingers F80 and F105
Instant set up - gripping is secured without any adjustment within the whole gripping range. For example
raw material as well as finished parts, of different diameters, can be handled by the same robot
inserts in the same operation.
Inside a Lathe
the 3-fingers unit is most common. This because the three fingers are automatically centring
the "round" bars/products.
Grippex can be used in many ways for loading/on-loading parts in a chuck and special device.
Grippex is often used for on-load finished parts safely from the sub spindle. This eliminates costly ejectors and
provides the added benefit of allowing the sub spindle to swallow long parts.
Grippex is useful even on lathes equipped with bar feeder systems because it provides a method
for handling the bar remnant. A bar feeder typically pushes the remnant into the chip conveyer
which could cause it to jam up or even be damaged. Bar remnant can also damage some types of chip-
processing equipment, such as compactors. The Grippex elimates these problems by removing the remnant
from the spindle and placing it in the machine's part catcher or other safely place.
Inside a Machining Centre
Grippex can provide a robot function. By mounting the unit in a milling chuck with
internal coolant supply, Grippex can load/unload work pieces into/out of M-code controlled vices,
chucks and rotary table from a work piece storage.
Grippex can be stored in the tool magazine. There are always some of our three sizes of Grippex
which match the machines and the adjacent tool positions need not be vacated.
In a Machining Centre, where a lot of different designed part occurs, it it useful to be able to have
both 2- and 3-fingers of Grippex design.
